In 2015, Spotify gave me year-end statistics about my listening— I had listened to 56.5 days of music that year. The year after, I tried to top that— logging 82 days of music; 1,968 hours.
I gradually began investing all of my energy into artists whose music I truly loved. Accepting the most off-the-wall ideas helped me remove parts of my ego and trust. When I receive that trust in return, I’m able to take a creative relationship to the next level and get to the reason we’re making something in the first place. I got to new places I never expected and my videos went even further. I made friends with musicians I always looked up to. Surreal that it’s just the beginning.
I trust my ear and only work with artists who I listen to.
